Islamabad -Prime
Minister Imran Khan left today (Saturday) for a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia
to attend the launching ceremony of the "Middle East Green Initiative
Summit" held in Riyadh. A high-level delegation including Foreign Minister
Shah Mahmoud Qureshi and other federal cabinet members also accompanied the
Prime Minister during the visit. At the MGI Summit, Imran Khan will share his
views on the challenges facing developing countries due to climate change. He
will also highlight Pakistan’s experience in launching nature-based solutions
to address environmental challenges. The MGI Summit was held at the initiative
of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. This event is the
first in the Middle East. Recall that in March this year, the crown prince
launched the "Green Saudi Arabia" and "Green Middle East"
initiatives to protect nature and the earth.
Prime Minister Imran Khan welcomed
these two initiatives and was willing to share the experience and lessons of
Pakistan's "Clean and Green Pakistan" and the Prime Minister's
"Tsunami of Ten Billion Trees". The Prime Minister will conduct
bilateral interactions with Saudi leaders, paying special attention to
promoting economic and trade relations, creating more opportunities for
Pakistani labor, and the welfare of Pakistani nationals in the Kingdom. The two
sides will also exchange views on regional and international issues of common
concern. During the visit, the Prime Minister will also participate in
activities to promote investment in Pakistan, and interact with major Saudi
investors, businessmen and the Pakistani community. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia
have a long historical fraternal relationship, which is deeply rooted in common
belief, common history and mutual support. With more than 2 million Pakistanis,
Saudi Arabia has contributed to the progress and prosperity of the two
countries.
Prime Minister Imran's visit will
further promote the positive momentum of cooperation between Pakistan and
Pakistan.
