The favorites India fell short thanks to Pakistan's unbeaten half-centuries from Captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who chased down 152 with 10 wickets and 13 balls to spare.

As a result, Pakistan had their first World Cup victory over India in 13 attempts, as India had won seven of the previous 12 matches, including five in 50-over cricket.

Pakistan's successful chase on a hot and sticky Sunday evening might have been aided by the evening dew, India's talisman captain Kohli acknowledged.
